We all love it when a good tech stack comes together. You get your software doing anything and everything you could possibly want. All 10 different systems communicating with each other efficiently to produce a single desired result. Now you just sit back, do your work and enjoy the show as the automation train rolls in new clients for you.

But what happens when something goes wrong? Or a lead strays from the norm or even a team member?

Well now you’re spending hours searching through all 10 of those systems, desperately trying to figure out WHAT exactly went wrong, which one of the systems had the hiccup to start a chain reaction across your entire stack and has now lost you a new client.

This is where that “less is more” philosophy comes into play.

I’m not saying that you should depend on only one singular bit of software to meet every bit of your firm’s needs. You can’t, because no software out there can satisfy every need you have…not yet, at least. But when you have built your tech stack out amongst 10 or even 20 different softwares, you leave a lot of opportunity for error.

What happens when one software has an update that makes what you have built out obsolete? They remove an integration you need? Or they simply shut down?

By managing the size of your tech stack, you limit the possibility of mistakes or mishaps and when they do occur, a small, managable tech stack makes it simple enough to easily find and repair the issues to ensure they do not occur again.

Not to be harsh, but KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Here are a few things you should consider when making a determination of what software you need?

  1. Communication: This is probably one of the most important aspect of managing leads and Matters. Does the software you have maintain the capabilities of managing communication with your leads and clients across ALL platforms; email, text and/or phone.
  2. Lead/Client Management: This involves knowing where all your leads at any point in the onboarding process and where your client matters are at in the process of completing services for them?
  3. Automation: Are you able to easily automate your processes without integrating between a dozen different systems. If you can’t, you should look into what else is out there available to consolidate your systems.

Software that I have found to have mass capabilities and integration:

  • Lawmatics
  • Intaker
  • Clio
  • Lawcus
  • WealthCounsel
  • DecisionVault

These, of course, are not the only ones, just what I have found to have the best capabilities of providing a lot of capabilities. It is important to investigate what they integrate with, before choosing, to ensure that you have software that compliments each other to prevent future gaps in your streamlining process.
