Before you read this article, if you are not quite familiar with Lawcus, feel free to check out my article here.
When it comes to building out automations in Lawcus, what triggers them is just as important as the action you want to occur. So with this article, we are going to be discussing the various trigger types within Lawcus’s automation capabilities. If you also want a simple “how to” on setting up automations in Lawcus, feel free to click here.
What is a Trigger in an Automation?
A trigger is simply the event that occurs to set off a series of actions within an automation.
Commonly used Trigger Types in Automations:
- Matter Created: when a matter is created in Lawcus or a lead is converted to a Matter and you want something to occur. Oftentimes, people will use this trigger to initiate the sending of a “Welcome Email” and/or generate a task.
- Matter Moved to Stage or Lead Moved to Stage: this triggers are based on the event of a lead or matter moving from one stage to the next. Perhaps that upon moving them to a new stage, you trigger a new set of tasks to be created or an email follow up sequence.
- Intake Form Submitted: when you select this type of trigger, you will also have to specify which intake you want your automation associated with. So, perhaps you want an intake form completed by a lead before they are able to schedule a consult. Once this intake form is submitted, you can use that as the trigger to send out a consult scheduling link, automatically, or simply generate a task to your admin team to reach out to the lead.
- eSign document signed: much like the “Intake Form Submitted” trigger, you will want to specify which document you want this automation to be associated with. It is not required that you do so, just something I highly recommend. Most of the time, people want to use this trigger when they are waiting on a lead to sign their engagement agreement.
- New Calendly Scheduler Appointment: A commonly used trigger, but only useable for those that actually have Calendly. Most people do, if they have Lawcus. Basically, when someone books a particular event in Calendly, you can trigger certain actions to occur. Perhaps you want a lead to move to the next stage in your lead pipeline or you want to automate sending the lead an intake form to be completed. You can also use this trigger to create a new lead in Lawcus.
- Task Completed: this is a trigger I use in almost every pipeline I buildout. This trigger is a great way to keep your Matters moving along in your process. When you complete a particular task, you can have Lawcus perform certain actions. One example of this would be to create the next task in your process and/or move the Matter to the next stage of the pipeline.
These are just a few of the potential triggers that you can use in Lawcus. There are a lot more, but these are just some commonly used examples.
